Beautiful, easy, biscuit recipe

This quick, easy FaithBiscuit.org recipe will warm and nourish your body and soul!

We are talking basic biscuits here. They are fit for any occasion.

The Ingredients You’ll Need

  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of salt (to your taste)
  • 6 tablespoons COLD butter
  • 3/4 cup whole milk or buttermilk

Biscuit Making Madness

Method #1: Use a food processor to save time. Add your dry ingredients and butter, and mix until the butter looks like little slivers of gold. Only then do you add your milk or buttermilk.

Method #2: No food processor? No worries. Add the dry ingredients to a large bowl, and use your hands to mix the butter and flour. You’ll know your work is done when it feels all crumbly. Remember not to let that butter get too warm. Put your bowl of mixings in your fridge for 5-10 minutes, if needed, before adding your milk or buttermilk.

You don’t want to roll out your dough with a rolling pin. Instead, make it into a rectangle, and keep folding it over and compressing it into another rectangle. Do this three or four times. Your love for the people who will eat the biscuits will be transmitted through your fingers, making the biscuits even better.

Finally, when your love is in the dough, make a rectangle about 3/4 inch thick. Use a round biscuit cutter to cut the circles out, and place them on an oven-certified cast iron skillet (best) or a baking sheet.

Bake for 10 to 15 minutes at 425 degrees Fahrenheit and serve warm.

Pro FaithBiscuit.org Tips

  • Keep the butter cold. That’s the secret to the mouth-melting flakiness you want.
  • When you use your round cutter, you want to simply press down and NOT twist the cutter. Twisting because that seals the edges, and they will not rise properly.

How to Serve Your Biscuits

The best way is to walk around the table and deliver each person a biscuit (or two!). Give each one a hug and maybe a little kiss with each delivery.

In addition, you can brush melted butter on the top of each one before serving. Apple butter is also good. Jam always excites biscuit lovers. You can never go wrong by offering gravy for most meals when possible.

Remember to share your faith when you share your biscuits. As Matthew 4:4 says, “Man shall not live by biscuits alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God” (paraphrased).
